The problem with our culture is that many of us get a new couch (or TV or iPhone or pair of cool boots) when we don’t have a need for them. I struggle with this myself. There is constant temptation to upgrade and replace with the latest version or style.

But the truth is that I do, generally do. Most of my clothes and home accessories come from thrift stores. My friends and family have it set up that we trade any furniture we decide we don’t want. I have also given and received many things through groups like freecycle.
