Last week’s CSA box was fun. We made a pesto, enjoyed some salad, and noshed on turnips baked in coconut oil and maple syrup. I still have a few things left over, mainly because I spent much of the week feeling too sick with a nasty summer cold to do much cooking. This week’s box arrive stuffed with even more, and I am almost overwhelmed. There are garlic scapes again, but almost three times as many; four heads of lettuce (two green and two red); more swiss chard; baby bok choy; loads of beautiful broccoli; radishes; and a whole bunch of beets.

I look forward to playing with these goodies. We’ve used a bit of the lettuce for salads, and I’ve tasted the radishes. The beets will likely be juiced for me alone, since no one else here enjoys them. I’ll use the chard in my lunch salad.
