Ship’s Log–August 15th

Thing 1 and I decided to postpone our morning run. My knee was feeling off, with a slight twinge if I moved it wrong, so giving it a rest after two days of running seemed wise. I did balance it out by going to back-to-back classes at the dojo. The first one, 45 minutes of Brazilian jujitsu, was fairly mild, and we focused more on learning techniques than working out. The MMA class that followed was a little more intense and feature a decent amount of pad work and sparring.

My food for the day was alright, I guess. I certainly kept the bread products to a minimum. My afternoon meal could have been a little better organized than the haphazard assortment I wound up eating…it looks like I hit some sort of health food party buffet, doesn’t it? I’m still working the kinks out of the four-meals-a-say concept.

Breakfast:

  • Smoothie: banana, strawberries, frozen blueberries and mangoes, red leaf lettuce, romaine, kale, 1/2 scoop Vega One Vanilla Chai, and water
  • Cinnamon raisin mochi with Earth Balance spread and maple syrup
  • Coffee with stevia

Lunch:

  • Tempeh Avocado Wrap from Dean’s Natural Market
  • Kale Chips
  • Lemon Seltzer
  • Coffee with cardamom, vanilla stevia, and unsweetened soy milk

Afternoon Mini-meal:

  • Popcorn with Tuscan herb olive oil, salt, and Fauxmesan
  • Apple with peanut butter and granola
  • Cold brew coffee with chocolate stevia and unsweetened soy milk
  • 1 Wasa cracker with hummus
  • 1/2 GoodGreens chocolate mint bar

Dinner (after class):

  • Small bowl of black bean and sweet potato chili with Daiya cheddar and sriracha
  • Salad: red lead lettuce, romaine, and kale with blueberries, walnuts, and tangerine balsamic
  • Glass of Merlot
  • Piece of 71% dark chocolate
