Ship’s Log–September 5th


Gosh but I was hungry all day. I have no real explanation, though my peckishness all afternoon and evening was accompanied by sleepiness, so perhaps I was eating in an effort to stay awake? I also really, really, really wanted a nibble of chocolate, but there was none to be had in the house. I shall correct that tomorrow, as it may be that my afternoon chocolate square may be rather critical to my wellbeing.

The good news is that the Cape Cod water weight has started to come off. I’ve already flushed out over a pound of it, and I’m hoping to say goodbye to more tomorrow. Hopefully by the end of the week I’ll be back to normal levels of water retention.

My exercise today was, well, back to normal. I took two c;lasses at the dojo: a 45 minute BJJ class followed by a 45 minute MMA class. Neither was particularly grueling alone, but together they drained what little bit of energy I had left come evening. 



  • Smoothie: Banana, frozen mango, romaine, kale, Vega One Vanilla Chai, flax and chia seeds, and water
  • 1 slice toasted Ezekiel sprouted grain cinnamon raisin bread with almond butter and raspberry preserves
  • Coffee with stevia

Morning Snack:

  • Iced peppermint, ginger, green tea


  • Tofu scramble with garlic, red onions, grape tomatoes, broccoli and Daiya shreds.
  • Whole wheat pita
  • 1/4 orange
  • Raspberry lime seltzer
  • Coffee with stevia

Afternoon Snackathon (I blame this on the lack of chocolate in the house.):

  • Iced peppermint, ginger, green tea
  • Small bowl of popcorn dressing with Tuscan herb olive oil and salt
  • Hummus and carrot sticks
  • Piece of salt water taffy
  • Black tea with vanilla stevia
  • Small bowl of Thing 2’s cereal with blueberries and almond milk
  • Clif granola bar

Dinner (after classes):

  • Salad: Romaine, kale, cucumbers, red onion, grape tomatoes, shiitake, avocado, chickpeas, baked tofu, tempeh bacon, miso mayo, and blackberry ginger balsamic
  • Glass of Cabernet


  • Slice of Ezekiel bread with almond butter
