Ship’s Log–October 23, 2013

I managed to beat the weather (and my own exhaustion) to get in a 3 mile run this morning before the cold rain arrived. Post-run, I played around with my kettlebells for about 10 minutes. I’ve been thinking about getting more strength training back into my schedule, and I think some shorter sessions after modest runs might be a good place to start. I finished up with 10 minutes of easy yoga to stretch, then hit my heavy work day.

I had another hearing tonight, so there was no chance to take a class in the evening. Next week is also going to be work heavy, which is good for the money and the forced rest but bad for the training.

Breakfast:

  • Smoothie: Bananas, frozen mixed berries, mixed greens, spinach, flax and chia seeds, unsweetened soy milk, and water
  • 1 slice of Ezekiel sprouted cinnamon raisin bread with almond butter and grape preserves
  • Coffee, black

Morning Snack:

  • Hot ginger tea

Lunch:

  • Moroccan lentil soup  and 1/2 tempeh avocado wrap from Dean’s Natural Market
  • Mixed greens with blackberry ginger balsamic
  • Coffee with vanilla stevia and unsweetened soy milk
  • Dark chocolate covered almonds

Afternoon Snack:

  • Apple with peanut butter/brown rice syrup caramel
  • Piece of dark chocolate almond bar

Dinner:

  • Homemade thick crust whole wheat pizza with vegan pepperoni and Daiya cheese
  • Mixed greens with blackberry ginger balsamic

Late Night:

  • Wasa crackers and peppercorn hummus
  • Glass of chardonnay
  • Vegan chocolate chip cookies
