Ship’s Log–January 6th

PicShells

One of my goals for 2014 is to go raw one day each week. I had planned on today being that day. However, it turns out that I have absolutely no interest in raw food when it’s cold and dank out. I want hot soup. I may have to modify my raw goal to be 50% raw every day for now and try going fully raw one day a week once it’s warmer weather. May, perhaps, when the farmer’s markets reopen.

Another one of my goals is to run a minimum of 9 miles a week. This week that may be really hard to make happen. The rain today started before the sun came up, and by mid-morning my running paths were flooded out, which meant no run today. Tomorrow is going to be too brutally cold to consider running outside, with a high of 14 and a windchill of -11. Nope. The next day may be a bit warmer, but if it doesn’t warm up enough for running outdoors, I may pay for a day pass to use a treadmill at a local gym. Hmm…maybe I’ll buy a monthly pass to make sure I can run through January. I really want to make this goal, and if I have to do some runs indoors, so be it.
