Ship’s Log–January 12th

So…that pizza I ate last night did not work out well for me. Immediately after eating it, I had become extremely thirsty. I drank three pint glasses of water before bedtime, and still was thirsty when I woke up this morning. I was retaining so much water that even my face was puffy. I had full-on sausage fingers. I stepped on the scale and learned that I was up three pounds.The Hub was the same way…he couldn’t even force his wedding ring on his hands.

The morning was spent drinking more fluids and a fair amount with caffeine to try to flush out the extra water I was retaining. By lunchtime I was approaching something more like normal, and we had a family conference about take-out dinners, which always seem to have way too much salt. They are just not good for us, and we need to cut them out. Period. If we want pizza, we make pizza.

Fitness:

26 push ups followed by a 3.5 mile run, and then a little light stretching

Breakfast @ Whole Foods:

  • Vegan chocolate chip scone
  • Pineapple, kiwi, strawberries, and blueberries
  • Coffee with vanilla stevia and soy milk

Morning Snack:

  • 2 cups of black tea

Lunch:

  • Engine 2 Poblano Black Bean burger on whole wheat flat with avocado, sliced tomato, and smokey chipotle mustard
  • Salad: red leaf lettuce, romaine, kale, red cabbage, and grape tomatoes with sesame ginger dressing
  • Clementine
  • Coffee with vanilla stevia and soy milk

Afternoon Snack:

  • Post-run: banana
  • Veggie samosas
  • Harney & Sons white tea with almonds and vanilla. It’s called White Christmas Tea, but the I don’t care. I’ll break the rules and drink it after New Years if I wanna.

Dinner:

  • Chickpea and gluten nuggets (taste better than that name sounds, honestly)
  • Roasted cauliflower, leeks, red peppers, and zucchini dressed with mayo, oregano white balsamic, and garlic olive oil
  • Roasted sweet potato spears
  • Red wine.
  • Piece of dark mint chocolate.
