Ship’s Log–January 28th

PicShells

I’ve decided to try something new on the fitness front, at least until the weather warms up enough for my running trails to clear. In addition to my daily challenge (Push ups this month, next month to be determined in the next two days), I’m going to add in several minutes of alternating umping rope and running stairs. I tried it out this morning, and the workout left me as sweaty as a good run, and I hope that it will serve to preserve some of my cardiovascular fitness through this unusually cold winter.

Fitness:

In the morning, 8 rounds or so of jumping rope for the count of about 200 and running a flight of stairs, followed by 38 pushups. In the evening I took a 1 hour BJJ class.

Breakfast:

  • Smoothie: bananas, frozen mango, red leaf lettuce, romaine, kale, flax and chia seed, Warrior Blend Raw Protein, cinnamon, and water
  • Cinnamon raisin mochi with  maple syrup
  • 1/2 ruby red grapefruit
  • Coffee with stevia

Morning Snack:

  • Cinnamon raisin bread toasted with peanut butter and raw honey
  • Spiced black tea

Lunch:

  • Salad: red leaf lettuce, romaine, kale, chickpeas, tempeh bacon (cooked in hot chili paste), shiitake, cucumber, and grape tomatoes dressed with sesame ginger dressing
  • Coffee with stevia
  • Dark chocolate, cranberries, and walnuts

Afternoon Snack:

  • Wasa crackers with hummus
  • Green olives
  • More dark chocolate with a little bit of vegan cool whip stuff (yeah, not a healthy choice, I admit)

Dinner:

  • Brown rice pasta with vegan chicken strips, red onion, garlic, grape tomatoes, and broccolini cooked in olive oil
  • Goose Island Nut Brown Ale
  • One more Was a cracker with black bean dip
