Ship’s Log–February 5th

Between the lack of runs and the availability of junk food, I’m doing some serious damage to my waistline this week. Today we managed to finally finish off the last of the sweet treats (goodbye my dear friends, Biscotti and Cake). There’s still a tub of peanut butter filled pretzels, a restaurant’s worth of tortilla chips, and a half a feed sack of veggie straws, and I’ll have to do something about my poor self-control around those soon or spend my weekend shopping for larger clothing.

Seriously, all that sugar and salt has put 5 pounds on me. It’s mostly water, but it still isn’t fun seeing the number on the scale take off like an Olympic ski jumper. Tomorrow I’ll need to start a serious detox to flush my system. Tomorrow. It’s always easier tomorrow, isn’t it?

  • Morning: 10 x jump rope for the count of 100 and run 1 flight of stairs; then the February Fab Ab Challenge–25 sit ups, 6 push ups, and 20 seconds plank
  • Evening: 45 minutes MMA and maybe 15 minutes BJJ. I had intended on doing a full BJJ class, but then my lower back started having spasms, probably working out the kinks from Monday’s shoveling adventure. I decided to take the rest of class to stretch and relax my back rather than risk it seizing up entirely.

  • Whole wheat everything bagel with peanut butter
  • Coffee with vanilla stevia and soy milk

Morning Snack:

  • Green tea with cherry

  • Salad: mixed greens, bell peppers, cauliflower, grape tomatoes, and BBQ tempeh dressed in blackberry ginger balsamic, miso, and sriracha
  • Coffee with vanilla stevia and soy milk
  • 2 1/2 chocolate hazelnut biscotti, which marks the very last of them (Thanks, Jay! They were amazing!)

Afternoon Snack:

  • Chia seed pudding with banana, soy milk, cocoa powder, and sliced strawberries
  • Handfuls and handfuls of Superbowl Snacks again, Dammit.

  • Whole wheat pasta with tomato sauce and vegan sausage
  • Full Sail Amber ale
  • The very last of the leftover birthday cake. Hallelujah!
