Ship’s Log–February 28th

Today was the last day of the February Ab Challenge, and boy, have my abs changed since the start of the year. They’re freaking rock solid in there, beneath that layer of insulation. My arms are also feeling pretty darn strong, too, what with last month’s pushups and this month’s planking.

I think for March, though, we’ll turn our attention to the legs. I’ve found two candidate squat programs on Pinterest, and I’ve decided to go with the one that also has ab work, so I (we? is anyone doing these with me?) don’t lose what I’ve gained. I’m going to change it up a bit, though, and round it out by doing push ups where it says sit ups, sit ups for the crunches, and then the squats as shown.

Food today…I have no excuse. I guess I just needed a break from the strict clean eating rules, and there’s all these cookies in the house! And kids begging me to open more and more boxes of them! Then Thing 2 had a friend sleep over, so pizza it was!

I have no guilt over the beer, though. Carton Brewing Company was one of my clients–have I ever mentioned that I’ve become something of an expert in the planning issues surrounding micro breweries? I am, and I consider all the breweries I’ve helped to be MINE in a way. This was the first time I’ve had the pleasure of trying one of Carton Brewing Company’s beers, and it was wonderful! The Boat Beer was much lighter in color than I usually go for, but the flavor was complex and satisfying.

Fitness:

  • Morning: February Ab Challenge Day 28 (100 sit ups/ 25 push ups/ 2m plank)

Breakfast:

  • Daily Detox Drink
  • Oatmeal with applesauce, raisins, bananas, walnuts, flax seed, cinnamon, and vanilla
  • Coffee

Morning Snack:

  • Cocoa Cabernet tea

Lunch:

  • Wrap with hummus, cucumber, tomato, and lettuce
  • Homemade cole slaw
  • Coffee
  • Assorted Girl Scout cookies. I don’t even want to talk about it.

Afternoon Snack:

  • Green tea almond milk latte
  • Wasa crackers with hummus, peanut butter, and vegan cheese
  • More cookies. Crap.

Dinner:

  • Veggie pizza on whole wheat crust
  • Carton Brewing Company Boat Beer Session Ale
