Ship’s Log–April 3rd

It’s pretty clear now that my body is ramping up a fight against Thing 1’s illness. I’m tired and achy, my ears hurt, my glands twinge, and I’m retaining water, but without a pizza binge to blame it on. This is not fun, but I hope that if I give my body the support it needs, I can fight this thing off. I made myself a ginger=rich fresh juice this morning, and worked up a good sweat this evening in class. I am not going to get sick, dammit.

Fitness:

  • 30 seconds plank
  • 45 minutes BJJ (easy class, working on technique) followed by 45 minutes of MMA

Breakfast:

  • Small smoothie: bananas, frozen cherries, frozen blueberries, red leaf lettuce, romaine, kale, flax seed, soy milk, and water
  • Cinnamon raisin Ezekiel muffin with almond butter
  • Broiled 1/2 grapefruit with strawberry
  • Coffee with soy creamer

Morning Snack:

  • Fresh squeezed juice: apple, carrot, ginger, kale, parsley, cucumber, and lime

Lunch:

  • Leftover sloppy joes with 1/2 whole grain wrap
  • Cole slaw
  • Steamed broccoli
  • Cold brew New Orleans style coffee with almond milk
  • Piece of dark chocolate

Afternoon Snack:

  • Small bowl of Mesa Sunrise cereal with blueberries and almond milk
  • Wasa crackers with hummus and green olives

Dinner:

  • Leftover barley and chickpea risotto with green olives
  • Salad with sesame ginger dressing
  • Thin mints
