Ship’s Log–April 4th


Why does it seem like all the bad weather is falling on the days of my training runs? Today had more cold drizzle, and I had to make the raincoat decision again. This time wearing it was the right call, and it protected me as I ran my five miles through the persistent mist and chilly gloom. The weather was so dreary that I had the whole park to myself, which is a rare treat. Just me, the mist, and the wildlife for all 5 miles.


  • Training run: 1/2 mile warm up; drills and strides; 5 intervals of 5 minutes medium intensity running and 1 minute light jog; 3/4 mile cool down
  • 30 seconds plank


  • Tofu scramble on multi-grain flat
  • Small dish of blackberries
  • Coffee with soy creamer

Morning Snack:

  • Pre-run: orange


  • Red lentil and spinach soup
  • Red leaf lettuce, romaine, kale, cucumbers and cashews dressed in blackberry ginger balsamic, sriracha, and miso
  • Cold brew New Orleans style coffee with soy milk
  • Piece of dark chocolate

Afternoon Snack:

  • Bowl of mesa sunrise cereal with blueberries and almond milk
  • Wasa crackers with hummus and green olives


  • Seitan quesadilla with guacamole
  • Kale chips
  • Ginger lemon kombucha
  • 1/2 slice vegan cake
