The dojo was closed this morning so the instructors could attend a seminar and I wasn’t scheduled to run, so I took a long-overdue rest day today. The toughest thing I did was take the dogs to the vet…which is actually quite the upper body work out, as neither of my 100 pound beasties likes to be up on the examination table.
In the afternoon, the family talked me into going to see the new Captain America movie with them, at the theater. I don’t generally like going to the theater. I find them cramped, uncomfortable, and full of other people, some of whom inevitably don’t know how to sit through a movie quietly. Our local AMC, however, was just renovated and now has reclining seats, huge amounts of leg room, and about 1/3 as many people in each theater as before. I was comfortable, and, for the most part, blissfully unaware of the people around me though the show was sold out. I might actually agree to go back in the near future.
Oh, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier is worth watching and even offers something of an inspiration for us runners. I am totally going to look for opportunities to loudly shout “On your left!” and sprint past other runners tomorrow on my long run. The fight scenes were fun to watch, especially now that I know how to do many of the moves they incorporated.
Anything the Black Widow can do, I can do, too (well, almost). So when do I get my movie, huh, Marvel?
