Ship’s Log–April 9th

This morning, my ball of right foot still felt like it had been beaten with a brick, all tender and bruised. I googled it (I’m not a Doctor, but I play one on WebMD), and it seems to match the start of metatarsalgia. This has me rethinking my plan for next week’s training. I will be traveling with the family for Spring Break, and my plan had been to bringing my running gear and try to sneak in two training runs while we’re away. I am now considering taking those few days off from running entirely to let ouchie in my foot heal.

It depends on how I feel after Friday’s run. If it’s still sore, then I’ll let it rest. I figure I still have two months before the race, so missing two training runs to heal shouldn’t be that much of a disaster. Better to have a small setback than to be completely derailed if this gets worse.
