Ship’s Log–May 7th

Still coughing today, but I decided to ignore it and go for my run, especially since there is no fever accompanying it. It was interesting that the cough vanished while I was working, but returned in force literally moments after I stopped running.

I decided later to follow my successful run with a class at the dojo, and that was perhaps a mistake. I did not enjoy the class, and I left feeling discouraged and wondering why I even bother continuing with my training since lately I’ve had to force myself to go and rarely enjoy it. The Hub thinks it is only because I am training so hard and I’m tired by the time I hit those evening classes, but I think there’s also been a change in the atmosphere at the dojo, and I no longer feel like I’m part of the family there, and that’s a terrible feeling.

Fitness:

  • Training run: speed work (3/4 mile warm up, drills and strides, 2 one mile intervals at intense effort with 90 seconds jog between, and 3/4 mile cool down)
  • 45 minute MMA class

Breakfast:

  • Cinnamon raisin Ezekiel muffin with peanut butter and a little raw honey
  • 1/2 grapefruit with strawberry, broiled
  • Coffee with vanilla stevia and almond milk

Morning Snack (post run):

  • NatureBox Whole Wheat Raspberry Figgy Bar
  • Water with NUUN tablet

Lunch:

  • Tempeh avocado wrap
  • Kale chips
  • 1/2 raw vegan chocolate mint tart
  • Cold brew New Orelans style coffee with almond milk

Afternoon Snacks:

  • Small bowl of cherries
  • Kind dark chocolate grain bar
  • Handful of NatureBox chili lime chickpeas

Dinner:

  • 2 tofu hot dogs on whole wheat buns
  • Broccoli slaw
  • Glass of red wine
  • Marshmallow and a piece of dark chocolate
