Ship’s Log–June 9th


I stepped on the scale this morning expecting to see a bit of a jump from the weekend’s festivities, and I was surprised to see my weight just a tad lower than it had been Friday morning. A weekend of eating in restaurants; indulging in dairy; a hard, long run; scarfing half a large pizza–usually any one of these activities would make me bloat a bit and gain a few temporary pounds. Doing all of them together should have turned me into a human water sausage, so I don’t understand why I’m not swollen to ridiculous proportions. I’ll take it, though.


  • Mixed berries with coconut milk vanilla yogurt and granola
  • Coffee with vanilla stevia and almond milk


  • Salad Bar from Dean’s Natural Market: mixed greens, kale, red onion, cucumber, carrots, radishes, BBQ seitan, and pumpkin seeds dressed in miso, sriracha, and blackberry ginger balsamic
  • Lemon seltzer
  • Coffee
  • Whole wheat blueberry fig bar

Afternoon Snacks:

  • Small bowl of cherries
  • Assorted NatureBox snacks


  • Amy’s Kitchen veggie burger on whole wheat bun with tomato, lettuce, pickles, mustard, and BBQ sauce
  • Polenta fries
  • Diced watermelon
  • Boddington’s Ale
