Ship’s Log–August 4th

PicShells

Mid-summer long runs tend to be soooooo tedious, and today’s was certainly no exception to that rule. It’s the humidity. The body can’t cool off effectively when the perspiration doesn’t have a glimmer of a hope of evaporating. Even still, Thing 1 and I managed our way through our run this morning hitting our target pace. Hooray.

My eating today was pretty decent considering that I tend to stuff my face on long run days. I am particularly proud of the dinner I managed to put together. The Tofurky sausage wasn’t the best given my goal of losing weight, but it was in the house and therefore a better choice than sending out for pizza. The rest of the plate was very healthful and featured a bunch of fresh veggies from this week’s farmer’s market. If I can keep dining like this as much as possible in August, dropping a few pounds should be a breeze.

Weight change since July 30th: -2 pounds

Dinner:

  • 1 ear corn with white truffle olive oil and Brai salt
  • Tofurky sausages cooked with onions and peppers. (Yeah, I know I’m trying to give these up, but I was exhausted after this morning’s run, these were in the house, and they were a quick-cooking protein option)
  • Cucumbers and tomatoes with white truffle olive oil and oregano white balsamic
  • Cole slaw
  • Small piece of vegan chocolate and a handful of spiced almonds
