Ship’s Log–November 1st

Today was all about loosening the sore muscles and trying to shed a little of that extra water weight. Weight loss for tomorrow’s tournament is pointless now. There is no one else in either the division I am in or in the division below me. In fact, I would have to lose more than 20 pounds to get to the next populated division below me, and that was not realistic in the few weeks between my last race and tomorrow’s event.

There is another women in a division just a bit above me who is also the lone competitor in her division. We’ll probably wind up facing off in the ring. I train with her several times a week, so it won’t be quite the same experience as competing against an unknown opponent…more like an exhibition match with a friend. At least this way I am not as likely to have any of my limbs ripped off.

Distance to goal weight: 22.1 pounds

Fitness:

  • 45 minutes MMA
  • 45 minutes BJJ review

Breakfast:

  • Whole wheat everything bagel with eggs, vegan bacon, and Daiya cheddar
  • Coffee with sugar and almond milk

Lunch:

  • Cup of black bean soup
  • 1/1 whole grain pita with BBQ mayo, baked tofu, tomato, and mixed greens
  • Coffee with sugar and almond milk

Afternoon Snack:

  • Peanut M&M’s, mini Heath bar, mini peppermint patty
  • Handful of pretzel chips and a bit of hummus

Dinner:

  • Baked sweet potato topped with a little hummus and BBQ mayo
  • Chicken and apple tofurky sausage with mustard
  • Broccolini, kale, and spinach sautéed with onions, garlic, red pepper, and tomato
  • Pineapple spear
  • Frozen bananas with dark chocolate
