Ship’s Log–November 14th

Today was a rest day, my first in over 7 days. It was probably not a good idea.

I’ve mentioned a few times over the last week and a half that I’ve been under a lot of stress. While I’m not going to go into the details of the situation that has me stressed out, I will share that it is an ongoing situation that is mostly out of my control but is having a huge impact on my piece of mind. I had expected it to be resolved by now, but it hasn’t been, so my daily stress level remains much, much, much higher than usual.

Hard work outs help me cope by burning off the anxious energy. Since I didn’t have that hard work out today, that energy just built and built and built. I felt like I was going to explode. The temptation to feed the stress (chocolate, mostly) was huge, so I gave it some potato chips at lunch and then a Starbucks candy latte in the afternoon. On the whole, it could have been worse. One latte isn’t as bad as a full batch of brownies.

Distance to Goal Weight: 19.5 pounds

Fitness:

  • Fitbit metrics: 10,248 steps, 11 floors

Breakfast:

  • Sprouted grain cinnamon raisin bagel with peanut butter and raspberry preserves
  • Smoothie: banana, pineapple, blackberries, frozen blueberries, romaine, flax and chia seed, vanilla soy milk, and water
  • Coffee with vanilla soy milk

Morning Snack:

  • Peppermint green tea with honey

Lunch:

  • Vegan “chicken” with BBQ sauce
  • Power greens salad: kale, broccoli, and Brussel sprouts with cranberries and seed in a poppy seed dressing
  • BBQ potato chips
  • Coffee with vanilla soy milk

Afternoon Snack:

  • Starbucks Tall Chestnut Praline Latte with soy milk. It was BOGO hour, and I caved.

Dinner:

  • Vegan beef with peppers and broccoli in orange ginger glaze over whole grain rice blend
  • Coconut mango wuyi oolong tea
  • Peppermint truffle
