Ship’s Log–November 23rd


I really had wanted to go for a long run today. The weather was absolutely perfect. Unfortunately, my body was not. I must have tweaked my knee during yesterday’s testing because today I couldn’t sit down without a sharp pain stabbing into the inside of my right knee. Running on that seems like a horrible, terrible, no good idea, so I took the day off to rest it instead. Hopefully it’s just a little minor inflammation on a tendon and will be better in a day or so.

My eating today was pretty far from ideal. We are traveling for the upcoming holiday, and so I haven’t done a big run to the grocery store. Instead, we are focusing on using up what we have on hand…which means the balance in my food for the next two days is likely to be skewed towards more prepared items. At least my dinner this evening was somewhat healthy.

Distance to goal weight: 21.3 pounds. I had trouble getting my wedding rings on, though, so this bump up is clearly a bit of water retention.


  • Fitbit Metrics: 8,537 steps and 12 floors


  • Coffee cake muffin with tofu cream cheese and raspberry preserves
  • Coffee with vanilla soy milk


  • Tofu hot dogs with mustard, ketchup, and spicy pickles
  • Potato chips
  • Clementine

Afternoon Snack:

  • Fresh local donut with vanilla glaze and cinnamon chips
  • Coffee with vanilla soy milk
  • Handful of pistachios


  • Vegan chicken breast with sautéed onions, red peppers, mushrooms, and garlic
  • Roasted baby potatoes and Brussels Sprouts
  • Mixed greens with tequila lime vinegar and Tuscan herb olive oil
  • Red wine
  • 2 truffles

Late night:

  • pecan bar
