Ship’s Log–December 1st

I spent this past holiday long weekend up on Cape Cod. I didn’t log my food. I ate a mix of healthy options and garbage treats. I didn’t work out much, mainly because it was freezing cold when it wasn’t driving rain or snowing, making running, my only option, too unpleasant to face. I arrived back home bloated and achy. This week will be all about the detox and shedding that extra water I’m now retaining. There’s going to be a lot of green, a lot of fruit, and a lot of working to sweat it out.

This evening my body let me know exactly how unhappy it is with me. During the no-gi class, my legs were cramping like nothing I’ve ever experienced. My calf tapped me out all by itself at one point as it tried to clinch down to the size of a walnut. That’s what I get for going five days without eating so much as one banana. I would have added one in today, but the ones I was able to buy at the market this morning were bright green and hardly appealing as a snack. Hopefully they will be more edible tomorrow so I can load up on the potassium ahead of jujitsu class.

Distance to goal weight: 24 pounds

Fitness:

  • Fitbit metrics: 10,245 steps; 5 floors
  • 45 minutes MMA
  • 45 minutes no-gi BJJ

Breakfast:

  • Whole wheat bagel with strawberry tofu spread
  • Orange juice
  • Coffee with vanilla soy milk

Morning Snack:

  • Peppermint green tea

Lunch:

  • Baked tofu
  • Power greens salad
  • Sliced apple
  • Coffee with vanilla soy milk
  • A few pieces of Cape Cod candy

Afternoon Snack:

  • Edamame
  • Truffle
  • Rice cake with hummus

Dinner:

  • Whole wheat pasta with tomato sauce and vegan sausage crumbles
  • Mixed greens with raspberry balsamic
  • Soy milk with Kahlua and Godiva liquor
  • Truffle
