Ship’s Log–December 4th


I gave in to the siren call of the huge bags of chocolate truffles in the kitchen today, and I’m not proud of it. I wish stress didn’t make me hungry. I have heard of people who lose their appetite when they are stressed, and that just seems so alien to me.

All I want to do right now is curl up under a fluffy blanket with a bowl full of truffles and stuff them into my face while streaming whole seasons of distracting TV on Netflix.

Thankfully I made it to the dojo tonight to take two classes. This should help burn off some of the cortisol coursing through my system, which has been busy making me want to eat truffles all the live long day.

Distance to goal weight: 22.3 pounds. Not surprisingly, stuffing my face at the banquet last night did not help me drop the water weight.


  • Fitbit metrics: 10,145 steps; 13 floors
  • 1 hour BJJ
  • 45 minutes MMA


  • Whole grain blueberry corn muffin
  • Smoothie: banana, frozen cherries, flax and chia seeds, Orgain chocolate protein powder, vanilla soy milk
  • Coffee with vanilla soy milk


  • Quinoa vegetable soup
  • Grilled tofurky and Daiya on whole wheat
  • Coffee with vanilla soy milk
  • Truffle

Afternoon Snack Attack:

  • Truffles. Several. Maybe more than several. I wish when I was stressed I craved celery, but that’s not how I work.
  • Leftover power greens salad
  • Raspberry fig bar
  • Peppermint green tea


  • 1/2 serving of breaded vegan chicken cutlet topped with tomato sauce and Daiya shreds
  • Sautéed broccoli
  • Apple pie
  • Vanilla soy milk with Godiva liquor and Kahlua
