Ship’s Log–December 7th

Another day too packed for there to be time for working out. We stared with an early trip to a water-logged tree farm to cut our annual evergreen sacrifice. That was followed by a rushed trip to the grocery store to restock our provisions, before heading out to meet friends at an Indian buffet for lunch.

Oh, heaven help me, I should not go to a buffet restaurant when stressed. I kept myself to one trip to the main buffet, but then the staff kept bringing baskets of fresh naan and platters of vegetable pakoras to the table. I ate too much, I’m sure.

What remained of the day was dedicated to housework and finishing the holiday decorations, ending with hauling the morning’s fresh corpse into the living room to sting it with festive lights and decorate it with 15 years’ worth of shiny trinkets. The kids insisted that ordering pizza was part of this annual tradition, so I found myself having pizza for dinner for the third day in a row despite having a kitchen full of healthier options.

Distance to goal weight: 24.3 pounds. Dammit.
