Ship’s Log–January 17th, 2015

Today was a weird food day. The Hub, Thing 1 and I had lunch out while Thing 2 was at a party. Having a sushi lunch was a rare treat these days, and will likely lead to a whole lot more swelling tomorrow. All that salt! Afterwards, we headed out to another birthday party, which we were surprised to see included a full buffet dinner, including a special vegan pasta dish prepared just for us. Had to have some of that, of course.

I skipped the cake, heading home early because by 4 my cold-weary head was pounding, and had too many Oreos to celebrate avoiding the cake. I’m an idiot sometimes. I don’t even know why I had a dinner, then. Habit, I suppose.

Distance to goal weight: 24.9 pounds. I’m so swollen now that I’m surprised I don’t make sloshing sounds when I walk.

  • 20 push ups, sit ups, and squats
  • 45 minute MMA class taken at 75% normal exertion. I skipped the no gi BJJ because I know that I wouldn’t want to be rolling with someone who is obviously sick, so I can’t expect my training partners to be okay with it. It’s one thing to hit pads without partner-to-partner contact when you’re sick, but quite another thing to grapple.
