Ship’s Log–January 18th, 2015

PicShells

Another Sunday brings another grocery shopping trip. This week’s total was just a hair under $270, including visits to both Costco and Wegman’s. I was aiming for $250, but then I included an anti-aging serum from Costco, Yes, I use anti-aging serum, because one day my daughter’s friends may stop thinking I’m her older sister, and I am not looking forward to that day. The stuff I usually use costs a whopping $80 a bottle, of which I use about two a year. The stuff I bought cost $30 a bottle. Depending on how fast I go through it (and how well it works), I could potentially save $100 a year…or wind up with a face that looks like a well-used baseball mitt by this time next week.

As for fitness, well, I’ve developed a piecing ache in my upper left teeth, the sort of thing that indicates a problem with my sinuses. I’m not willing to go and label this a sinus infection and admit that my old nemesis is back in my life (I used to get four or five a year before I gave up dairy), but I am willing to take another day to rest a bit and let my body heal the inflammation that is evident in my dear old nasal passages.

Distance to goal weight: 26 pounds. I’m in a rotten mood because of this. I know it’s water, but still…
