Ship’s Log–January 21st, 2015


If stress eating were an Olympic sport, I would have qualified for the Team USA today. You see, The Hub had a follow up interview this afternoon with the top guy at the company that hasn’t hired him yet. There was A LOT riding on this interview. A LOT. So I ate my way through the anxiety, and that then carried over into the evening, even after the interview went extremely well, he was told to expect the offer for sure this week, and we indulged in another round of celebratory donuts.

I am not proud of how I’ve been doing the last two weeks, and I’m feeling incredibly discouraged about my negative progress. Being sick and being stressed are hard enough taken one at a time, but the two together have done me in.

Distance to goal weight: 25.1 pounds, which is up quite a bit from yesterday.


  • 10 push ups, sit ups, and squats
  • 30 minutes strength training


  • Whole grain English muffin with scrambled egg, Daiya cheddar, and vegan Canadian bacon
  • Smoothie: banana, strawberry, blackberry, frozen blueberry, mixed greens (kale, spinach, and chard), flax and chia seeds, and water
  • Coffee with vanilla soy milk

Morning Snack:

  • Earl grey tea with honey and vanilla soy milk


  • Leftover sausage and kale soup with whole grain baguette
  • Coffee with vanilla soy milk
  • Pecans and chocolate chips

Afternoon Snack:

  • Peppermint tea and some dark chocolate
  • Donut with chocolate glaze Bavarian cream, caramel, and butterscotch chips. The only positive I thing I can say about this, beyond the fact that it tasted amazing, is that the donut place makes small donuts, so it’s not as big as it looks in that picture.
  • Small bowl of leftover pasta


  • Whole wheat everything bagel with tofu cream cheese, sliced tomato, and mixed greens
  • Veggie straws

Late night:

  • Chamomile tea
  • Another serving of leftover pasta
  • Vegan marshmallows
