Ship’s Log–January 22nd, 2015

I’m still sick. I just can’t shake the last little bit of this head cold, and it’s driving me nuts. Enough, already.

At least the end to the financial crisis is in sight. The Hub received the long-awaited job offer today. There’s still wee bit of negotiating to do, but overall it looks good. I hope to be popping the champagne tomorrow evening, head cold or no.

Distance to goal weight: 26.5 pounds.

Fitness:

  • 10 push ups, sit ups, and squats
  • Long walk through cold fields, hoping to spot a Pink Footed Goose that has been hanging out on a local Green Acres parcel. Without luck, thanks to the group of people walking their big dogs off leash.
  • 1 hour testing and graduation MMA class

Breakfast:

  • 1 1/2 small whole grain blueberry corn muffins
  • Smoothie: banana, strawberry, blackberry, orange, frozen blueberry, mixed greens, flax and chia seed, soy milk, and water
  • Coffee with vanilla soy milk

Morning Snack:

  • Coffee with soy milk. I tried the new Uganda beans from our locally coffee shop, Rook, which is so good that it has been featured by both Maxim and Buzzfeed.

Lunch:

  • Tempeh pan-fried in coconut oil and glazed with buffalo wing sauce
  • Kale salad
  • Coffee with vanilla soy milk

Afternoon Snack:

  • Peppermint tea

Dinner:

  • Salad: mixed greens, grape tomatoes, cucumber, and vegan chicken nuggets topped with honey mustard dressing

Late Night (after class):

  • Pretzels and hummus
  • Peanut butter and jelly on whole wheat
  • Camomile tea
