Ship’s Log–February 7th, 2015


I miss running. I really miss running. The forecast for the foreseeable future, though, isn’t favorable for running. It looks like I am going to be forced to take the whole month off. I’m going to try to treat this as an opportunity to heal all the running related stresses in my body and focus on getting stronger and leaner for when I can return to the trails.

But still…I miss running. It’s not just the physical activity, it’s the time alone on the trails, zoning out the daily grind as my strides carry me through the park. Running is my meditation, and the longer I go without it, the more I realize that I need it.

Distance to goal weight: 24 pounds


  • 45 minutes MMA
  • 45 minutes no-gi BJJ


  • Whole wheat everything bagel with peanut butter
  • Small glass of orange juice
  • Coffee with vanilla soy milk

Lunch @ Noodles and Company:

  • Small Indonesian peanut sauté with tofu
  • Iced tea

Afternoon Snack:

  • Sliced apple with a handful of walnuts (as opposed to the sugary peanut butter and brown rice syrup dip I’ve been indulging in)
  • Coffee with vanilla soy milk
  • Peppermint tea


  • Baked potato with vegan bacon, Daiya cheddar shreds, and hummus
  • Sautéed broccoli, grape tomatoes, and onions
  • Clean Slate Riesling
  • 3 Oreos
