Ship’s Log–February 9th, 2015

I give today a solid B+. Food was mostly good, though I probably should have said “No Thanks” when Thing 2 offered me those potato chips to go with my burger. I did manage a big salad, lots of beans, and two solid servings of fruit (or three, I guess, if you include the dates).

The evening’s classes went well. I made a batch of almond date balls with dark cocoa powder and coconut shreds, sort of like raw brownies, to fuel up with rather than the Snickers bars I used the last week. They are still dense bites of sugar and fat, but from unrefined sources rather than all the corn syrup and partially hydrogenated oils in the candy bar. I could have handled classes being a bit more intense, in fact, as I still had energy left by the end of the second one.

Distance to goal weight: 23.6 pounds

Fitness:

  • 45 minutes MMA
  • 45 minutes BJJ

Breakfast:

  • Whole grain tortilla with scrambled eggs, vegan bacon, wilted greens, and Daiya shreds
  • 1/2 grapefruit broiled with sliced strawberries
  • Coffee with vanilla soy milk

Morning Snack:

  • Peppermint green tea with honey and lemon

Lunch:

  • Small bowl of black bean and corn chili
  • Romaine with salsa and Daiya shreds
  • Coffee with vanilla soy milk
  • Banana

Afternoon Snack:

  • Carrots and hummus
  • Pre-class: almond date balls

Dinner:

  • Vegan burger with Daiya swiss, lettuce, tomato, BBQ sauce, and mustard
  • Kale salad
  • Sea salt potato chips
  • Chamomile tea
