Ship’s Log–February 23rd, 2015


I miss running. While I wait for the ice-covered world around me to melt, I’m glad that I can focus on the other half of my training: kicking ass. Today’s classes were pretty good. I worked hard, sweat like a BAMF, and held my own despite having bruised my knee during one of Saturday’s classes. All good, since I won’t be able to make another class until Saturday. I have work the next two nights, and then there are no adult classes scheduled for this Thursday, the one other day this week I could go.

I guess I’ll be doing a lot of lifting and at-home MMA fighter fitness training this week instead. Time to break out the mini tramp.

Distance to goal weight: 24.9 pounds


  • 45 minutes MMA
  • 45 minutes no-gi BJJ


  • Pumpernickel wrap with scrambled eggs, seating bacon, Daiya cheddar, and wilted greens
  • 1/2 grapefruit broiled with strawberries
  • Coffee with vanilla soy milk

Morning Snack:

  • Chocolate mint oolong tea


  • Minestrone
  • Coffee with vanilla soy milk
  • Chocolate covered banana medallions

Afternoon Snack:

  • Tofurky slices wrapped with hummus and red grapes
  • Palm full of raw cashews
  • Earl grey tea with vanilla soy milk
  • Pre-classes: Snickers bar


  • Homemade whole wheat vegan pepperoni pizza
  • Mixed greens with tomato and cucumber dressed with balsamic vinegar and olive oil
  • Cabernet
  • Another packet of chocolate dipped banana slices
